Wiremen's Credit Union Privacy Policy

 PRIVACY ACT DISCLOSURE
 
INFORMATION COLLECTED 
Wiremen’s Credit Union, Inc. is owned by its members and run by a board of directors you elect. You can be confident that your financial privacy is a top priority of this Credit Union. We are required by law to give you this privacy notice to explain how we collect, use and safeguard your personal financial information. If you have questions, please contact us at (440) 887-3800.
 
DISCLOSURE TO THIRD PARTIES 
We are committed to providing you with competitive products and services to meet your financial needs, which necessitates that we share information about you to complete your transactions and to provide you with certain financial opportunities. In order to do so, we have entered into agreements with other companies that provide either services to us or additional financial products for you to consider. The Credit Union’s board of directors has approved each of these companies.
The Credit Union may collect non-public personal information about you from the following sources:
Information we receive from you on applications or other forms. 
Information about your transactions with us such as loans, deposits,
   and electronic funds transfers, our affiliates, or others. 
And information that we receive from a consumer reporting agency.
The Credit Union will not disclose any non-public personal information about our members and former members to anyone except as permitted or required by law. We may also disclose information we collect about you under other circumstances as permitted or required by law.
These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of our credit union, follow your instructions, or protect the security of our financial records. The Credit Union may disclose information to companies that perform marketing services
on our behalf or to other companies or financial institutions with which we have joint marketing agreements. This information may be obtained from all applications or other forms.
 
DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION ABOUT FORMER MEMBERS 
If you terminate your membership at Wiremen’s Credit Union, we will not share information we have collected about you, except as permitted or required by law.
 

HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION

The Credit Union restricts access to your personal and account information. We restrict access to non-public personal information about you to those employees who have a specific business purpose for utilizing your data. Our employees are trained on the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulation and leading industry practices to safeguard your non-public personal information.
 

HOW TO EXCERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO OPT OUT

Where the Credit Union shares information to a non affiliated third party that is not exempted under federal statute, you may exercise your right to Opt Out by directing us not to make these disclosures. All non affiliated third parties that are Joint Marketers or financial institutions, provide Processing & Servicing opportunities or entities permitted or required under the law to receive information, do not afford the consumer the opportunity to Opt Out of disclosure of non-public personal information by the Credit Union with these entities.
 
Remember, you need only provide the right to Opt Out in the Policy and Disclosure Statement if the Credit Union will be sharing information outside of one of the three recognized exemptions under the statute and regulations. The opportunity to Opt Out must be given prior to the release of the designated information and must provide a reasonable opportunity for the consumer to exercise that right. Therefore, if the notice is mailed, the Credit Union must provide at least 30 days for the customer to Opt Out. The Credit Union must have practices and procedures in place and maintain the integrity of the members', non-members', customers', and consumers' ability to exercise this right. The right to Opt Out applies regardless of whether a consumer has established a customer relationship with a Credit Union.
 

RIGHT TO OPT OUT

Where the Credit Union shares information to a non affiliated third party that is not exempted under federal statute, you may exercise your right to Opt Out by directing us not to make these disclosures. All non affiliated third parties that are Joint Marketers or financial institutions, provide Processing and Servicing opportunities or entities permitted or required under the law to receive information from the Credit Union, do not afford the consumer the opportunity to Opt Out of the disclosure of the non-public personal information by the Credit Union to these entities. Where the third party is not an exempted third party, the consumer has the right to Opt Out of the disclosure and may exercise this right by calling the Credit Union at (440) 887-3800 or by writing to:

USA PATRIOT ACT

Customer Identification Requirements

In accordance with section 326 of the USA Patriot Act, enacted October 2001, to protect you, your family and our country from terrorism by preventing terrorism financing, all applicants for new accounts are required to provide current picture identification that verifies identity including name, address and other identifying information. We must also verify the identity of persons added as joint owners to and who have access to new or existing deposit accounts or loans. We must also retain records of the documents used to verify your identity. In some cases, identification will be requested for current account holders if original documentation was not obtained with the opening of the account or the account was opened prior to enactment of the Patriot Act.

In all cases, protection of our member accounts and confidentiality is our concern as we work to maintain the security of your funds and our country.
